Who we are: SeamSight is made by Andras Bori, an individual developer in California (“we”, “us”).

SeamSight helps tennis players and coaches plan practices, run them on iPhone and Apple Watch, and see how they went. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.

Who SeamSight is for

SeamSight is for people 13 and older. If you’re under 13, please don’t use SeamSight. See “Children and teens” below.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address, your password (stored by our sign-in provider as a one-way hash, never readable by us), the name you choose to show, and whether you use SeamSight as a player, a coach or a parent.

Your age range. At sign-up we check that you’re 13 or older (see “Children and teens”). We keep only your age range, never your date of birth.

Your team. The coaches, players and parents you connect with, and the role each has. A coach’s own labels for their players stay visible only to that coach.

Your practices. The practices planned for you or by you, your tournaments and training targets, notes a coach adds to a drill, how hard a practice felt, and why a practice was cancelled, when you choose to say.

What a practice records. When it started and ended, each drill’s timing, pauses and skips, and an estimate of distance run. If you use an Apple Watch, a Bluetooth heart-rate strap or Apple Health, also your heart rate during the practice.

Shot data from SwingVision. When you send a SwingVision export to SeamSight, the app reads its shots (where each ball was hit and landed, the stroke, the result, the speed) and the player names in the file, and saves the accuracy counts for you and, in a partner practice, for your partner. The export file itself stays on your iPhone.

Partner practices. When you practice with a partner, each of you can see that you practiced together, and the partner’s side of the drills.

Find a Coach. If you’re a coach and choose to be listed, what you put in your listing is shown to players looking for a coach. A request a player sends to a coach is shared with that coach.

Reports and blocks. If you report content or a person, we keep the report (what and who you reported, the reason and any note you add) so the SeamSight team can look into it; the person you report isn’t told who reported them. If you block someone, we keep that so they can’t contact you in the app; you can unblock them at any time.

Usage analytics. How the app is used, as described in “Usage analytics” below.

We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos or camera, and SeamSight has no ads.

Health data and Apple Health

With your permission, SeamSight reads the heart rate your Apple Watch saved to Apple Health during a practice, and saves the practices you run on your Watch or iPhone to Apple Health as workouts (from iPhone, with a Bluetooth heart-rate strap’s readings as the workout’s heart rate). On iPhone, running a practice as a workout also keeps it going in the background. Heart rate from Apple Health, the Watch or a strap is saved with that practice in your SeamSight account, so you and the coaches on your team can see it. Parents on your team can’t see your heart rate. They see fitness trends in words that were worked out from it, such as “getting fitter”.

Each week, your app also works out a short summary from that week’s practices and saves it with the week:

  • focused practice minutes
  • minutes at a high heart rate
  • how fast your heart rate falls after hard drills
  • shot accuracy by stroke

Your coaches use it to follow your progress, and parents see it in words. No heart-rate readings are in it.

To work out your heart-rate zones, SeamSight uses your age: with your permission it reads your date of birth from Apple Health, or you type your age in. Your age stays on your iPhone. Only the maximum heart rate worked out from it is saved with your practices.

Health data, including anything read from Apple Health:

  • is used only to show you and your team your practices and how you recovered;
  • is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never sent to our analytics provider;
  • is not shared with anyone outside your team, except the service providers below that store it for us.

You can turn off SeamSight’s access to Apple Health at any time in the Health app or in iPhone Settings, and Bluetooth access in Settings.

Usage analytics

To learn which features help and where people get stuck, SeamSight counts how the app is used:

  • What’s counted: a list of actions we chose, such as opening the app and how long a visit lasts, the screens opened, practices started, finished, rated or cancelled, practices sent or changed, reports opened, Workout Generator settings, drills changed, and SwingVision files sent. With each, the app build, the platform (iOS) and simple details made of numbers, yes/no answers and short labels of ours (for example “iPhone” or “Watch”, the minutes of a practice, the workload chosen).
  • What’s never counted: your name, email, notes, anything you type, your heart rate or other health data, your age, your location, and taps or screens beyond that list. There’s no session recording.
  • How you’re identified: by your account’s random ID, so visits on your iPhone and later builds are counted as the same person. The ID doesn’t include your name or email. We also note whether you’re using the app as a player, a coach or a parent, and whether you have a head coach.
  • Who processes it: PostHog, Inc. stores these events for us on servers in the United States (PostHog’s US cloud). PostHog acts as our service provider and doesn’t use the data for its own purposes. See https://posthog.com/privacy.
  • Your choice: turn off Share usage analytics on SeamSight’s Start screen. From then on, nothing is counted for you on that device. Usage isn’t counted before you sign in.

Who can see your information

  • You.

  • Your team, by role: your head coach and other coaches can see your plans, practices, heart rate, accuracy and reports. A parent can see:

    • their child’s plan and tournaments
    • whether each practice was done (and why one was cancelled)
    • the shot accuracy of filmed practices
    • their child’s goals and progress (practice hours and consistency)
    • fitness trends in words that were worked out from heart rate, such as “getting fitter”

A parent can’t see recordings, heart-rate numbers or how hard a practice felt, and can’t change anything. You’re asked before anyone joins your team, and someone you remove stops seeing new information.

  • Your practice partner, for the practices you do together.

  • Service providers that run SeamSight for us: Supabase (accounts, the database and the emails for signing in and resetting a password), PostHog (usage analytics), and Apple (TestFlight, the App Store and, if you use them, Apple Health and iCloud backups of your device). They process the information only to provide their service to us.

  • When the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety or SeamSight’s users and services.

We don’t sell your information or share it for advertising.

Children and teens

Under 13. SeamSight isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.

  • When you create an account, SeamSight checks your age range. Where your iPhone can share it, the age range comes from Apple (Apple’s Declared Age Range); otherwise SeamSight asks for your date of birth.
  • If you’re under 13, you can’t create an account, and a coach or parent can’t create one for you.
  • We use the answer only for this check and to follow the rules below. We keep only your age range, never your date of birth.
  • If we learn that we’ve collected information from a child under 13, we delete it. If you’re a parent and think your child under 13 has an account, write to [email protected] and we’ll delete it.

Teens 13 to 17. Teens can use SeamSight.

  • In some US states, such as Texas, Utah and Louisiana, the App Store asks a parent or guardian to approve a teen’s download and some later changes to the app. When Apple tells us that a parent has withdrawn that approval, we stop the teen’s access to SeamSight.
  • A teen can also add a parent to their team. The parent then sees what’s described in “Who can see your information”, and only after the teen accepts.
  • A parent can ask us at [email protected] to see or delete their teen’s information.

How long we keep it

  • Your account information and practices: kept while you have an account, so your history and your team’s plans stay available.
  • Usage analytics: kept for up to 12 months.
  • After you delete your account: we delete your account and the information linked to it within 30 days, except where we must keep something by law. Practice records you shared with a team or a partner may stay in their history in a form that no longer identifies you.

Your choices and rights

  • See and correct: your name and plans in the app; ask us for anything else.
  • Delete: with Delete Account in the app’s account settings, or by emailing [email protected] from your account’s email address.
  • Analytics: turn off Share usage analytics on the Start screen.
  • Health and Bluetooth: turn access off in iPhone Settings or the Health app at any time.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as to receive a copy of your information or to object to how it’s used. Contact us to use them; we answer within 30 days.

Where your information is kept

SeamSight’s service providers store your information in the United States. If you use SeamSight from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.

Security

Information travels encrypted (HTTPS) between the app and our providers, and access is limited by team roles enforced on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
